Spring is here and the first quarter of the year is wrapping up. How are you doing with your goals for the year? This is the perfect time to do a check-up and do some spring cleaning. Although spring cleaning refers to literal cleaning and decluttering your space, it’s also a good time to clear out the cobwebs of some items in your personal life, as well as get reacclimated and realigned with your goals.

Ideally, you should be taking a look at your yearly goals often and breaking them down into smaller actionable goals. That way, every week you can be doing something toward achieving your goals. So, if you haven’t done so already, take some time to assess where you are in making sure you achieve results this year. If you feel like you are behind on bringing your goals into fruition, then you need to figure out why and get it together.


My first suggestion is that you first make sure that you are sticking to your goals because you genuinely have the desire to and that you’re not doing so out of obligation. If you don’t have a passion for what you’re doing then chances are you won’t put much effort into it. It’s also ok to change your mind about your goals. Don’t put too much guilt on yourself for doing so. It’s your prerogative. Once you’ve removed the goals you no longer have an interest in pursuing, find out why you are stagnant on the goals you are still hoping to achieve. It could be that you just need to declutter some elements of your life and make better use of your time

Go through the contacts in your phone and email, and delete those who you will absolutely, positively, no longer need or want to talk to again in life. Unfollow people who are demotivating or petty on your social media feed. Instead, follow profiles that will provide inspiration and those who you aspire to be. Turn off your notifications and remove apps from your phone that keep you distracted from doing your work. Stress is probably the most important demotivator from completing your goals. If you are feeling stressed out or anxious about completing your goals or having a difficult time working through everyday life triggers, then find new ways to tame them. Journal your thoughts, find a therapist, talk with a close friend, meditate and get some of my print affirmations to surround yourself with.

Make sure you’re not booked and busy just for the sake of being busy. Remove frivolous activities that do not help in achieving a goal. If you are feeling burned out, then make sure you incorporate or redesign your self-care routine. Do not feel obligated to always be on your hustle and grind. You can have ambition and still take a break from time to time.  At some point, you have to decompress and having a good self-care routine is essential to bouncing back. Also, make sure you’re eating properly and getting a good night’s sleep so that you can be energized to slay your goals.

I’m not going to tell you that you should be working on your goals every day. For some that may be too much pressure and overwhelming. But we should constantly be working toward achieving them. Springtime is a good time for breathing new life into things. So with that being said, we’ve got work to do, so let’s get to it!
